How to Add Multiple Google Accounts to Your Browser

Juggling multiple Google accounts can be tricky, but luckily, you can sign in to multiple accounts at once. Here’s how you can in all browsers.

Google accounts are the key to productivity. You may have more than one for various reasons, whether for work or personal reasons. But managing them could be a hassle, especially if you keep logging them in and out and juggling windows on different browsers.

Fortunately, you can add multiple Google accounts to your browser and switch between them as needed. Here’s how you can do this in all browsers.

Chrome Profiles vs. Google Accounts

First, you should know that a Google Chrome profile isn’t the same as adding a Google account to your browser. Yes, you can create a Chrome profile and use it to separate your work and personal life. You can also assign a Google account to each profile, but adding an account to your browser is different because it doesn’t open a new window for your work. Adding an account lets you do all your work in one profile window.

However, we do recommend you set up custom Chrome profiles to divide your activities and create boundaries. You access Chrome profiles by clicking your profile icon on Chrome’s address bar. From there, you can add or switch to other Chrome profiles.

You must access Google accounts when signing in to a Google-based service, which is different than Chrome profiles. These profiles don’t exist outside of Google Chrome, so you’ll need to sign in to your accounts in any other browser.

How to Add a New Google Account

For the purpose of this guide, we’ll be showing you how to add a new Google account with Gmail. But you can do this with any other Google service like Google Photos, Google Drive, or Google Docs. Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Go to Gmail and wait for it to open.
  2. Find your profile icon at the top-right of the page and click it. Don’t click the profile icon on your browser’s address bar; they may look similar, but they’re not the same thing.

  3. Click Add another account near the bottom end of the list.
  4. Your browser will open a new tab to input your Google account details.
    • sword and click Next. When you finish, it will open another Gmail tab with that account logged into it.
    • Return back to the original Gmail tab and refresh it.
    • Open your Google profile menu again, and you should see the account as one of the accounts you can switch to.

These steps also work on Safari, Edge, Brave, Opera, Firefox, and any other browser.

You can add accounts and keep them signed in like this to avoid losing the accounts. Google could delete inactive accounts, so even if you don’t need them regularly, it’s good to keep the accounts logged in in case you need them.

How to Switch Between Google Accounts

Switching between Google accounts is identical to adding a new one. Look for your profile icon on any Google service and select the account you want to switch to, and it will open a new tab with it.

But there are a few things to consider:

    • Google will automatically access documents (Forms, Docs, Sheets, etc.) with the creator account. For instance, let’s assume you used account A to create a Google Docs document. Whenever you click the link to open the document, Google will automatically sign you in to account A, even if you use account B to click the link. You can manually switch back if you want.
    • Some Google services, like YouTube, have a different menu. There, you have to click your profile icon and then Switch account to open the Google account menu. YouTube also has info on the channels linked to that account.

Google understands that many of its users have multiple accounts and tries to accommodate that across its services.

Manage Multiple Google Accounts With Ease

After this, you won’t need to juggle browsers or windows just to access various accounts. Thanks to Google’s easy account management integration, you can do everything from the same window and the same browser profile. But this feature isn’t restricted only to browsers; you can set it up on an Android phone or tablet as well.
